TREY'S TABLET

September 24, 2008

A thought provoker for you! Enjoy!

THE BUZZARD:

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and
is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its
ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is
that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a
run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its
habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner
for life in a small jail with no top.

THE BAT:

The ordinary bat that flies
around at night, a remarkable
nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level
place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it
can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully,
until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can
throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like
a flash.

THE BUMBLEBEE:

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there
until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the
means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find
some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will
seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys
itself.

PEOPLE:

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the
bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and
frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look
up! That 's the answer, the escape route and the
solution to any problem! Just look up!

Continue to pray for the MOF, as we have a busy schedule coming up!  Pray that we see a host of souls saved and christians re-strengthened in their walk with the Lord.  The MOF would love to see YOU at a concert soon!!

Trey

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and that everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, 'God! How could you do this to me?'

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! 'How did you know I was here?' asked the weary man of his rescuers. 'We saw your smoke signal,' they replied.

The Moral of This Story:

It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember this the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

Continue to lift the Men of Faith up in prayer daily!!  Come see us soon!!

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared . Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?'

The young boy was apologetic. 'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would stop...' With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my brother, 'he said. 'He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.' Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me.' Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless you,' the grateful child told the stranger.

Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home. It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: 'Don't go through life so fast that someone ha s to throw a brick at you to get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Thought for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Read this line very slowly and let it sink in..............If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

February 22, 2008

Greetings!!!  Seems like it's been forever!!!  I hope everyone had a great Christmas & New Year.  MOF is getting cranked back up and is looking forward to what the Lord has in store for 2008.  Here is another e-mail that I thought you folks would find interesting!

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, "They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!" Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.

Is that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was funished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, "I'm done". But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because.......... The folded napkin meant, "I'm coming back!"

HE IS COMING BACK!!!

AMEN!!!  Aren't you glad He's coming back to take His children home to Heaven!!!  I hope you enjoyed this edition of Trey's Tablet.

IMPORTANT!!!----Men of Faith will be celebrating 7 yrs of ministry on MARCH 8 , 2008 at Trinity FWB Church in Greenville, NC.  The concert begins at 7:00pm and our special guests for the evening will be Lawrence Taylor & Brian Free & Assurance.  We would love to see you there!!!  For questions or directions call Daniel Albritton @ 252-531-9383.  Continue to keep MOF in your prayers!

December 5, 2007

As I write this Christmas is quickly approaching and 2007 is almost over.  I can't help but think back at all the blessings God has given the MOF this year.  We have seen numerous souls saved, lives mended and hearts set on fire for God.  It is our hope and prayer that we will grow closer to God and see even more souls saved in 2008!!

While there were many "highlights" during the year, MOF experienced various trials and heartaches.  I look back now and think, without HIM; where would we be now?  We serve an AWESOME God and He is always faithful in meeting our needs and mending our broken hearts.

SCHOOL LESSON......

The awesomeness of our God.....

IN CHEMISTRY, HE TURNED WATER TO WINE

IN BIOLOGY, HE WAS BORN WITHOUT THE NORMAL CONCEPTION.

IN PHYSICS, HE DISAPPROVED THE LAW OF GRAVITY WHEN HE ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN

IN ECONOMICS, HE DISAPPROVED THE LAW OF DIMINISHING RETURN BY FEEDING 5000
MEN WITH TWO FISHES & 5 LOAVES OF BREAD;

IN MEDICINE, HE CURED THE SICK AND THE BLIND WITHOUT ADMINISTERING A SINGLE DOSE OF DRUGS,

IN HISTORY, HE IS THE BEGINNING AND THE END;

IN GOVERNMENT, HE SAID THAT HE SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR,PRINCE OF PEACE;

IN RELIGION, HE SAID NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM; SO, WHO IS HE?

HE IS JESUS!

AMEN!

IN GOD I'VE FOUND EVERYTHING!

The Greatest Man in History

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.

Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.

Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.

He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet
He conquered the world.

He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.

He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.

I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us!

September 21, 2007

I hope everyone is doing well.  MOF has been really busy singing and traveling and learning new songs for our upcoming project recently.  I apologize for the slackness---ONCE AGAIN!-I know, I know........

I was seriously contemplating on what to write this month and it is amazing how the Lord works.  I was at work getting my thoughts together on what to write and I received an e-mail at that same moment.   I opened it and found something that "hit home" to me.  READ BELOW!

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.

She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her.

She told her boyfriend, "If I could only see the world, I will marry you."

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?'

The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, before they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.

LIFE IS A GIFT!

Today before you say an unkind word -
Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life -
Think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children -
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep -
Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive -
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job -
Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another -
Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one MAKER.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank GOD you're alive and still around.

Your MOF,
Trey

Please continue to pray for the MOF and come see us at a service soon!

July 23, 2007

Hey!

This e-mail was forwarded to me recently and I couldn't get it off of my mind.  It can apply to everyone's life in one way or another.  ENJOY

One day I decided to quit.... I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality.. I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me... "Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.

Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo".

He said. "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.

He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant.

But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.

I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo.

I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to others."

He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern, yet, they both make the forest beautiful."

"Your time will come," God said to me. " You will rise high!"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

No one knows who wrote this e-mail, but I believe everyone at some time or another gets discouraged in life and can relate to this person in the e-mail.   Always remember that GOD will never give up on you!

God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small He can curl up inside your heart.

Have a great day!  The SON is shining!!

Thanks to Mark Swinson(bass singer for Curtis Hyler & Jubilation) for sending this e-mail my way.

June 22, 2007

WOW!  What a month!   If you missed the Curtis Hyler & Jubilation Homecoming on June 16th, you missed a BLESSING!!  CH&J and The Mitchells were GREAT and the LORD showed up and we had church in a mighty way.  To top it all off, it was held in the brand spankin' new sanctuary of the Grifton FWB Church.  My, my, my, what a nice building!

Let me just say that I appreciate all of the folks that read this tablet.  I know I'm a little slack when it comes to updating it, but I try to wait and find just the right words to share.  I was amazed at the testimonials I have been sent regarding the last entry about the silversmith.  Stories that begin with such sadness, but end in joy, knowing that God has HIS eye on them!

Here's a little something I found the other day!---ENJOY

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes" But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help" She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Thought for the day and every day thereafter? Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... and the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.)...whatever it is...You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven.

He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness; He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.

Go ahead and make the difference in someones life today. Share this with a friend and always remember: God is at the window!

If you don't know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I hope that you will stop what you are doing and prayerfully ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart, forgive you of your sins and to make you a living testimony of what HE would have you to be!  Your prayer doesn't have to be fancy and wordy, just sincere!

If you would like more information on how to be saved or to let us know that you prayed a prayer asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart, feel free to e-mail me at trey@menoffaithqt.com.  We will be more than happy to send you some helpful information on being a new christian.

Your MOF,
Trey

May 3, 2007

Hey!!  Long time huh?

I received an e-mail from a friend the other day and I thought ya'll would
like it, so I pasted it below.

ENJOY!

Malachi 3:3 says: "He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what
this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and
get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to
watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her
interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire
and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to
hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to
burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she
thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of
silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit
there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the
silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the
fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would
be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How
do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image
in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his Eye
on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

This very moment, someone needs to know that God is watching over
them. And, whatever they're going through, they'll be a better person in the end.

"Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once."

I hope this e-mail brought joy and hope to your day, as I know it did mine!

Your MOF,
Trey

P.S.  Don't forget to check out when the MOF will be in your area next and ALWAYS keep our ministry in your prayers!

March 24, 2007

Well, well, well!!  How exciting is this, the MOF has a brand new website.  Thanks to Daniel for creating this fancy website for a bunch of rednecks.  (For those who are wondering what "MOF" is, it is short for "Men of Faith".)

For those who have seen the MOF lately, you will know that there have been some major changes.  Grant Barker and Don O'Rock announced that they were leaving in late 2006.  Grant accepted a position playing bass guitar with The Kingsmen Quartet from Asheville, NC and Don decided it was time to spend more time with his family.  So, with all that drama, we were bound and determined to find us a bass player and bass singer.  In December, we were introduced to Melvin McBride from Wake Forest, NC.  As you can see, Melvin was the guy and he is doing a GREAT job!  We are still searching for a bass player but we know GOD has a plan--HE ALWAYS DOES!!!!

Also, for those who missed our Anniversary sing on March 10, you missed it!  Dr. Jack Lassiter did an outstanding job emceeing and preachin' and The Kingsmen were better than ever!!  Yea, we are a little partial since Grant is a part of them:)  Thanks to all of you who made that night possible, because without the support of our families, friends and fans, it wouldn't have been possible-THANK YOU!!

So we hope to see you the next time the MOF is in your area.

Your Man of Faith,
Trey
